About The Oasis of Azumarill.

The Oasis of Azumarill is a website made by me. I made this to display my drawings, but I hope I will make more any type of artforms and other things.

The reason why this website is called "The Oasis of Azumarill", it was named after a song by Do As Infinity called "Oasis" (I know it's not about a literal oasis) and Azumarill, which is my favorite Pokemon. The website was originally to be called "PolkaDot's World", but I changed it to "Azumarill's Oasis" and it's now called "The Oasis of Azumarill".

This website's design is mostly inspired by skies, which is really weird because the name has oasis rather than skies or heavens.

The mascot for this site is Lucy the Azumarill, she is an anthro Azumarill with orange wings and wears a white dress.

Manifesto(?)

I was not old enough to experience the wild west Geocities yet, but I'm old enough to remember flash games like Duck Life and GirlsGoGames games. I also remember visiting DeviantArt alot as a kid, I would go there everyday and post art there. But... the current state of DeviantArt, I left that site like two times. DeviantArt is a huge dumpster fire, so I wouldn't recommend that site to anyone who wants to post their own art. DeviantArt has a alot of problems like AI slop, bad weird people and fill-in-memes.

So about social media, it sucks, TikTok is a massive brainrot, Twitter is extremely toxic, Instagram is vile.

I'm glad that I've never joined TikTok. think that app is the biggest mistake ever. Dumb trends and misinformation are often on TikTok, not to mention the overconsumerism...

What I like about on Neocities that is limitless and not very toxic. You can make a website about whatever you want, you can use your own imagination. Many sites here are very creative and imaginative, brimming with personality and awesomeness.

On the topic of HTML: I remember that I want to make a pet website similar to Neopets, but I had a hard time learning HTML, so I just gave up. Though in 2023, I learnt HTML, but kind of lazy to know(?). Last year (2024), I learn HTML again and no longer have a hard time coding. I'm still learning to this day, so never give up learning!

While I believe that people can learn about making websites with the power of HTML and Neocities, I don't think that Neocities (or NekoWeb) will fully replace social media, I think that social media should have more common sense and better moderation instead of toxic cancel culture, bullying, bigotry or any maliciousness.
